My daughter insists this be our movie this week. It’s my favorite telling of the Dickens tale, which has been retold as much as Spiderman by Marvel.
I love watching various TV series doing their own version of a Christmas episode, and in Doctor Who like fashion, A Christmas Carol seems to regenerate again and again. It’s been in radio dramas, local theater, with Scrooges of Bill Murray and Jim Carrey.
One interesting thing is there used to be an extra song, at the part where Ebenezer gets, well – ghosted – by his girl. It appeared in the VHS home video version only, but was missing in the theatrical version, and other subsequent releases. The footage was actually discovered recently, after being lost for decades. It’s not in the version we’re showing, but honestly I don’t miss it.
